Indoor Air Quality
Air quality is one of the most important characteristics of an indoor environment. In terms of human health, indoor sources can generate astonishing levels of pollutants under otherwise acceptable circumstances, causing illnesses, sick-building problems and reduced employee productivity. Even building structures considered stable could contain literally thousands of compounds emanating from consumer products and everyday materials.
GEOMET and our parent company Versar have been at the forefront in the search for understanding and improving the indoor environment and risk management since the mid-l970s. Our extensive background results in insightful and cost-effective indoor air quality (IAQ) services tailored to each client's specific needs.
We use combinations of various techniques, including industrial hygiene, exposure assessment, toxicology, modeling, and environmental engineering, to perform logical assessments of IAQ problems based on our understanding of:
1. Indoor air contaminants and the factors that affect their occurrence and concentrations;
2. Building ventilation systems;
3. Building design;
4. Physical factors;
5. Comfort parameters; and
6. Occupant perceptions of air quality and comfort.
