York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)
GEOMET
has been a Commercial/Industrial Performance Program (CIPP) Contractor
for NYSERDA since 1999, assisting in NYSERDA's efforts to promote energy
efficiency by providing monetary incentives to energy services companies
(ESCOs) statewide to develop and implement energy-efficient projects.
GEOMET is responsible for providing technical consulting services in
the review of performance-based projects in the State of New York. We
examine technical aspects of the energy savings performance projects
through four stages of the CIPP project cycle: the Project Application,
the Detail Energy Analysis, the Project Installation Report, and the
Measurement and Verification (M&V) Reports. We assess the reasonableness
of the energy savings, the feasibility of implementation, and the technical
merit of the M&V approach. We approve the CIPP projects in terms
of conformance to program standards and completeness, utilization of
accurate calculation methodologies, and methodologies and procedures
to validate the performance of the project. To-date, GEOMET has received
over 130 task orders (projects) under this contract. The scope of these
projects includes lighting retrofits, high efficiency motor replacements,
variable speed drive upgrades, control system retrofits, high efficiency
chiller replacements, steam chiller retrofits, improvements in the utilization
of compressed air, and natural gas engine replacements of compressor
motors.
