Laboratory Technician

Job Description: Primary responsibility will be to work with GEOMET Chemical Defense Laboratory Division’s (CDLD’s) Hazardous Materials Laboratory (HML) staff to provide increased capability to effectively support client chemical agent testing requirements and to meet ECBC requirements relating to the use of Personnel Reliability Program (PRP)-certified test personnel in GEOMET CDLD’s testing operations.

Perform routine laboratory housekeeping functions (i.e., sweeping, keeping work stations clean, washing glassware, etc.). Under minimal direction, conduct qualified chemical and physical laboratory analyses to include wet chemistry analysis of test samples. Make routine observations, analyze data and interpret results. May make minor modification to established procedures to meet specific analytical needs, following established laboratory quality assurance procedures. Generate and record appropriate data, perform analytical calculations and complete necessary documentation of analyses performed. Assist in writing experimental reports, summaries and protocols. Prepare sampling media as instructed. Perform required quality control procedures to document validity of data generated. Maintain laboratory equipment and perform limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments. Exhibit knowledge and ability to operate computers, spectrophotometers, balances, ovens, water baths, pH meters, centrifuges, etc. High school diploma and one to three years experience or college graduate (chemistry degree) with minimum work experience required.

Associate Chemist

Job Description: Primary responsibility will be to work with GEOMET Chemical Defense Laboratory Division’s (CDLD’s) Hazardous Materials Laboratory (HML) staff to provide increased capability to effectively support client chemical agent testing requirements and to meet ECBC requirements relating to the use of Personnel Reliability Program (PRP)-certified test personnel in GEOMET CDLD’s testing operations.

Support the conduct of chemical agent testing of chemical protective clothing items, equipment, and other products as may be required by CDLD clients. Perform basic chemical analysis of liquid and/or solid samples for organic, inorganic and/or metal substance content and interpret and evaluate results. Work with other CDLD technical staff members in the conduct of testing and analysis using a wide variety of laboratory instrumentation (e.g. MINICAMS, GC, GC/MS, UV/VIS Spectrophotometers, etc.) to isolate, identify and quantify components of soil, water, air, and other samples. Participate with other CDLD staff in preparing chemical profiles of substances relative to site-specific hazardous waste regulatory actions. Provide input to the preparation of technical/test reports based on test conduct and the interpretation of analyzed data. Perform other duties as assigned.

A bachelor-of-science degree in chemistry and up to three years experience required.

Building Services Engineer (Manager, Facility Operations)

Job Description: Responsible for the facility management and engineering functions of GEOMET Chemical Defense Laboratory Division’s (CDLD’s) Chemical Agent Laboratory Facility. Ensure building integrity and maintenance of electrical, telephone, water, air systems and other facility-related maintenance and operational requirements/systems. Oversee maintenance of facility grounds/landscaping. Perform general and building/facility maintenance, repair, replacement and/or warehouse duties on structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, sanitary systems and related facility equipment, etc.. Respond to maintenance repair request and identify problems/solutions. Manage and hire staff, contractors, and subcontractors as may be required. May be involved in the maintenance of office furniture and equipment. Also, schedule and support hazardous waste pickups, general equipment deliveries, etc.. Perform duties as GEOMET CDLD’s Physical Security Officer which encompasses responsibility for key and lock control, etc. Perform other duties as assigned.

A high school diploma and specialized vocational training or equivalent experience are required. Licensing desired but not required. Three or more years of building maintenance and engineering experience with working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, HVAC and mechanical and electrical building operating systems required.

QA Manager

Job Description: Position Description and Desired Qualifications: Primary responsibilities would be to develop and implement quality assurance procedures necessary for the effective implementation of the Quality Assurance Program within GEOMET's Chemical Defense Laboratory. Provide oversight of Chemical Defense Laboratory activities, in the form of audits, surveillances, and inspections, to assure that quality-related activities have been correctly performed. Evaluate potential suppliers to assure that they possess the required quality, regulatory, and technical capabilities to supply the desired material and/or services. Interface with management, various departments, regulatory agencies, customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants regarding quality-related issues. Provide management and direction to "QA Specialists". B.S. or M.S. degree in a technical field (preferably chemistry) or equivalent technical experience. Minimum of approximately 7 to 10 years experience in quality assurance, quality control, engineering, construction, or manufacturing. Minimum of 2 years experience in QA management role. Lead Auditor Qualification desired. Knowledge of ISO-9000-2000 desired. Good computer skills, and written and verbal communication skills required.

Job Requirements: The candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. BS in Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering preferred.
Experience with the Acquisition and Development of Systems for DOD Warfighter use. Experience with the Acquisition and Development of Systems for Marine Corps or DOD Joint Programs is preferred.
Experience writing Government Acquisition Documentation including: Performance Specification, Test and Evaluation Master Plan, Source Selection Plan, Acquisition Strategy, Safety Documentation, etc.
Trained and Certified by the Defense Acquisition University. (Level III preferred)
Experience with the Systems Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering of military systems.
Experience with managing the Test & Evaluation of developmental systems.
Experience working with active duty military Warfighters. (Marines preferred)
Excellent Oral and Written Communication.
